A Red Lobster in Columbia, Missouri, is making headlines after its employees went above and beyond to comfort a newly widowed woman on her wedding anniversary. According to a recent report on The Today Show, an unnamed local woman and her husband had eaten at the Red Lobster on their anniversary every year for 30 years. He passed away, and on her first wedding anniversary without him, she returned to the restaurant to have dinner in honor of her husband’s memory.
At the end of the meal, the widow’s server brought her a note that said: “We are sorry to hear about your husband’s passing, but we appreciate your loyalty in spending 31 years of your anniversary with us. For our appreciation your meal is on us! We look forward to spending your next anniversary with us! Sincerely, Red Lobster and your server, Taylor.”
The woman’s son reportedly posted a picture of the note to the website Reddit, and the image quickly went viral.
The Today Show recently interviewed the Red Lobster server and her manager about their random act of kindness. They said the gesture was not out of the ordinary, and simply reflected how much they truly appreciate all of their guests. The two declined to name the customer out of respect for her privacy.
We all hope that when it is our time to go, we will leave our loved ones with decades of happy memories like those of this Missouri family.
